Hello Heideman Roadrunners! 
 
Welcome to the Heideman Library! I'm Mrs. Clinton and I'm glad you are here.I'm looking forward to spending time with you and your class as we read and explore all the incredible books in our library. I know we'll find just the right book for you to check out! 
 
At the Heideman Library, we are dedicated to creating a positive and welcoming environment for students and teachers as we promote a lifelong love of reading. We strive to encourage the pursuit of personal interests thru reading and research, to support student academic achievement, to encourage curiosity about the world around us, to empower students to become critical thinkers and problem solvers, and most importantly, to create a culture of readers by providing quality and engaging reading materials and resources for all students in a safe and supportive environment.

Heideman Library Policies & Procedures

Expected Behavior in the Library
1) "Whole Body Listening" during Story Time
2) Use "Library Manners" at all times.
 
Library Manners Include:
  • Quiet Voices
  • Move Slowly
  • Say Please & Thank You
  • Help Each Other 
  • Treat Books Kindly
  • Return Books on Time
  • Read, Read, Read!
Heideman Library Visits & Book Checkouts
 
Heideman Classes K-5th visit the library once a week for approximately 30 minutes. Books are checked out for 1 week and are to be returned the student's next library visit. Kindergarten may check out 1 book each week. Grades 1st - 5th may check out 2 books each week. 
 
*The number of book checkouts allowed may change at the discretion of the teacher and/or librarian. 
*Books may be taken home at the teacher's discretion. 
 
Student Responsibility
Students are responsible for all books checked out under their name. Students must take proper care of their library books and return books safely to the library each week. Students who show repeated lack of responsibility may have their library privileges suspended at the discretion of the School Administration and Librarian. If a book is lost or damaged, the student is responsible for paying the replacement cost of the book. If repayment of a lost or damaged book creates a hardship, please contact Mrs.Yerkish at hyerkish@tustin.k12.ca.us.

Obtaining an Orange County Public Library (OCPL)Card

Follow the link for step by step instructions on how to obtain a public library cards.  With a library card, one could access digital and audio books, as well as physical books from your local library.

Follett Destiny

This link will give you access to Heideman's library.  Students can check out books that can be picked up at school.  They can also find ebooks as well.

Sora

This is a district-wide eLibrary. Our students are loving SORA. Students can checkout e-books right from the SORA app on their school iPad.  If they don't have it downloaded, they can get it from the Self-Serve app Students use their district-issued login and password to check out books.  These books are in English, Spanish, and some are read to the students.  Check it out!
